Genetic variation and population structure analysis of Leymus chinensis (Trin.) Tzvelev from Eurasian steppes using SSR makers

Abstract Leymus chinensis (Trin.) Tzvelev is an important perennial grass species extensively dispersed in the typical grassland communities of Eurasian steppe region. It relished by livestock due to its high quality and being a nutritionally valuable forage crop. L. has recently gained extensive consideration on genetic diversity. However, diversity studies using SSR markers currently limited. In present study, we investigate variation population structure analysis from steppes makers. For diversity, nineteen were used total 133 alleles identified across 166 plants. Our findings illustrated that polymorphic rate for all was greater than 80%, with exception SSR12i SSR6c, which had polymorphism rates 50% 75%, respectively. The gene (H) ranged 0.0545 0.4720 SSR25v, average 0.3136. Furthermore, indicated samples could be grouped into five main clusters based their maximum membership coefficients assigned as Pop1 Pop5. Among populations, largest values allele (total number detected alleles), Ne (effective alleles) Na (observed mean found higher Pop1, 61, 1.461, 1.977, Additionally, AMOVA showed 13% occurred among 87% within populations species. Whereas, pairwise Fst specified moderate ranging 0.0336 0.0731. Finally, principal coordinate revealed x-axis y-axis explained 5.72% 4.86% molecular data, Taken together, these provide new insights more precise understanding germplasm potentially enhance breeding program chinensis.
